Rodney Bowes and his wife Julie,
moved to Decatur from Lincoln, Nebraska, in late January 2004.
They both previously attended Union College and graduated in
December 2003. Rodney graduated with a
Batchelor's Degree in Religion with a minor in Missions and
Evangelism. Julie graduated with an Associate's Degree in
English Communication. She also graduated with a Batchelor's
Degree in Creative Writing in May 2004.
Pastor Rodney lived in Pomona,
California, for the first ten years of his life. Being close
to Los Angeles, Pomona reflected the city's degradation and
gang influence. Rodney and his family were constantly under
Satan's attack, and they finally moved to quieter Berrien
Springs, Michigan. Rodney attended a Seventh-day Adventist
school for the first time. The change brought him new and
better friends and a Christian influence at school.
He graduated from academy (high school)
in Berrien Springs, then went on to college at Union in
Lincoln, Nebraska. Union is also a private Seventh-day
Adventist College. He attended there for a year and helped
promote missions at the school. He became extremely interested
in missions through his volunteer work, and he left for lands
unknown his sophomore year of college. He served with
Adventist Frontier Missions in the Philippines for 2 1/4
years. He grew to love the people there, and he did not want
to come home. He served almost three times longer than he had
planned to. |

His love for missions led
him to Weimar College, a mission-focused college, to take Massage
and Hydrotherapy. God had other plans, however, and he ended up
meeting his future wife there instead. Both Rodney and Julie shared
a love for foreign missions, and they planned how they would leave
for the foreign field a couple of years after they married on June
6, 2003. Again, God had different plans and instead of to India, He
led them to a small country town called Decatur,
Arkansas.
Pastor Rodney and Julie have been in Decatur since
January 28, 2004 and already, they see many evidences of God's
Divine leading. Rodney and Julie still share a love for
missions, and they view this time in Decatur as their training
ground. They see many needs in Northwest Arkansas, and they
enjoy working together to meet those needs.
One of Rodney's favorite sites is Hope Talk, a fantastic
Bible Study site that caters to several different
languages. |
