State Auto Body Skills Competition

autoThree DAA seniors went to the North Dakota State Auto Body Skills USA competition this year... Kyle Rickard, Alicia Butterfield and Robert Stevens. Kyle received 2nd place overall although he was very close to winning 1st place! He got knocked five points for not wearing a helmet at one point in the competition and that put the next guy ahead of him by two or three points. If Kyle had placed 1st he would have received a full ride to Wyo-Tech. We are so proud of our teens who made it to Skills USA! They are all so talented! View more photos

Math Competition in Bismarck, ND

On February 5, DAA math teacher, Jim Rickard took three eighth graders Leanna Quaile, Mathew Boyko, and Gabrielle Myers and one seventh grader Thomas Chapman, from Brentwood SDA Elementary School to the Math Counts in Bismarck. Leanna Quaile received second place at the competition. The students competed against 96 of the best math students in the Burleigh and Morton counties. The other three did exceptionally well also, with the Brentwood team placing 7th out of 24 teams. The three eighth graders have been taking Algebra 1 at DAA this year. Thomas has been learning math from Joyce Freese at Brentwood School.

Our Physics Class entered two teams in Bismarck's Public Physics Competition on February 6th. One of our groups won 1st place and the other won 3rd! Not only did the students score well with the judges, they were also featured on the Bismarck news!

Seniors' Spaghetti Supper a Success!

Dakota Adventist Academy’s senior class hosted a Spaghetti Supper in the DAA cafeteria on January 27 to raise money for their senior class trip to Chicago. They had a great time working together in the kitchen with the help of many of the Rickard’s relatives. The seniors want to thank everyone who came to support their classes fundraising efforts. They raised over $300 for their class that night.

The DAA talent show was also that evening. Many songs and comedy acts kept the audience entertained.

Hey there Grandma and Grandpa!
On Friday, January 26 fifteen Dakota Adventist Academy students had grandparents on campus for their annual Grandparent’s Day. The students greeted them at the front of the school at 9:30 a.m. and had cinnamon rolls and visiting in the Heritage Room at the academy. The room was packed that day. The students had a great time spending quality time with their grandparents in activities and in classes. The day consisted of a student ‘History Tour’ presentation, picture taking, a choir performance, a Human Song drama program, lunch and an art class with Mr. Gary Way. The grandparents enjoyed sitting in on some classroom time with their grandkids also. Hopefully next year we will have even more grandparents on campus! It meant a lot to the DAA students to have special family members visit them.
