| Eat With Us |
The church's "free lunch" program was started during April 1998. We had no idea how it would be received or how many would come out and "Eat With Us." The first day 50 people were served and now approximately 75 people are served each Thursday. The volunteers were pleased when the senior citizens from Crumpton paid a visit to the "free lunch." Not only do the guests get a healthy lunch, each guest has the priveledge of having their blood pressure checked every week. The community has been supportive of this outreach. We have received monetary donations as well as food. We share any extra food such as bread and produce with the guests. This program has made it possible for church volunteers to meet not only their neighbors but other people who are shut-ins. 15 to 20 lunches are delivered to local shut-ins each Thursday by volunteers who spend a little time visiting with each one. They appreciate it and it is very rewarding to both the shut-ins and volunteers. |
| Sand Sculpture |
The sand sculpture at the corner of Kent and Philosopher's Terrace has received much attention. Tom Coleman and his wife Dee, along with other volunteers, maintain and create a different sculpture each Saturday afternoon. A lovely flower garden with bird bath, bird feeder and benches for quiet meditation was created by Pastor Danny Flower. Many of the "free lunch" guests make a trip to visit and admire the garden when leaving the luncheon. |
