Saturday October 7th, the Chadron Seventh Day Adventist Church hosted a Fire-Rescue Appreciation Day for the Chadron Volunteer Fire Rescue Dept. Over 70 people were present to see the presentation of a plaque from the church to the Fire rescue Dept. and the Prairie View SDA school of Chadron presented the Dept. with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by all of the students. Special guests Sen. Bob Wickersham, Mayor Mary Horse, and City Council Rep. Dr. Gamby gave short messages of appreciation to the Firemen and the Church for having this recognition day. Several members of the Church sang and read poetry for the occasion. Pastor Rodney Long gave a message entitled "The Greatest Firefighter I Ever Knew". The church provided a special meal after the service to show appreciation to the volunteers.

Show me a person who sacrifices homelife, TV... even tender moments,

Show me a person visibly moved at the strains of our National Anthem,
And, I'll show you a volunteer.
Show me a person who may be asked to give more than just dedication,
And, I'll show you a volunteer.
