If ever you feel lost in night,
As if your sight is gone,
So that you cannot see the path
        That leads into the dawn,

And fear to take one tiny step
        Because you think you'll fall
And cry aloud for help so much
        You never hear God's call,

You will be helpless, drained of strength,
        Forgetting God is near-
Despair will conquer faith and hope
When your heart is filled with fear.

Then, do not try to look ahead
But reach out with your hand
And let God guide you through the dark
        Into His promised land.

No word is needed, no wild leap-
        Just reach into the air
        Remembering that He has said
        His love is always there.
