What
Is Pathfinders All About?
Pathfinders is a church based club for 10 to 16 year olds. The aim of Pathfinders is to provide an atmosphere where juniors and teens can grow in their Christian experience. Pathfinders is concerned with the physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being. For this reason Pathfinders provides a range of indoor and outdoor activities each designed to provide positive supportive learning experiences.
This program occurs in an environment where the kids have some choices; where fun is a high priority; where they are doing real things; where they are safe to try ideas; and where they can use what they have discovered. One of the really important things that drives this program is the emphasis it puts on values. These are the big ideas that guide a person's life. Rather than concentrating on the things a person knows or the things they can do, this program uses knowledge and skills as a springboard from which the kids can establish their values.
What Are the Aims Of the Pathfinder Program ?
1. Make Christ Real 2. Make Church Attractive 3. Show that each person is special 4. Help channel energy in appropriate pathways 5. Show that God has purpose and meaning 6. Assist in the development of positive life skills 7. Show that life as a Christian is the Best!
What do we do?
We are following a new activity based program called " Way to Go" This program is divided into four pathways : God, Community, Self & Nature. The activities are developmentally appropriate for each age group involved in the club. The program has indoor and outdoor activities. In addition to our core program at our club night each fortnight, we practice discipline through a formal parade, interact socially through games, be creative through craft activities, learn new skills and information through Special Interest Awards ( also known as Honours), where the Pathfinder completes set requirements to obtain a cloth badge for their uniform sash. Examples include, Australian Birds, Metalcraft, Hiking, Flowers, Candle making, Pioneering, Campcraft Christian Storytelling etc.
Our Balanced Activity Based Program Includes :
An important part of our program is our outdoor activities. We have five campouts per year and are also active in the Teen Expedition, where teens from across South East Queensland come together for a great week. Every three years we rotate these expeditions which are either Backpacking through Carnarvon Gorge, Spending a week on a tropical Island or our Canoe expedition from 1770 to Gladstone. Staff are all experienced in a number of outdoor activity areas and are being accredited through NAOATAC. Every four years we are involved in a National Camporee where over 4000 Pathfinders and staff get together for four fabulous days of activity worship sharing and prayer.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Caboolture Seventh Day Adventist Church, Caboolture River Road Morayfield, QLD 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 4:30 to 8:30pm ( Campouts excepted)
