PeterPlan 1 for Finding the Trustworthy

PeterPlan to:

1. Find the Trustworthy (Trust Christ, 1 Peter 1:8,9): The Unseen, I love and trust, with joy for salvation.
2. Find Love (Love Others, 1:22): I'm obedient, purified and affectionate, loving with strength.
3. Find Your Place. (Submit to Others, 2:13-15): I submit to institutions, for punishment and commendation, in good conduct.
4. Find Your Strength. (Suffer with Christ, 4:1,2): I suffer and endure, foregoing men's desire, doing God's will.
5. Find Your Work. (Serve Others, 5:2,3): I serve with a free will out of devotion, as an example.
6. Find a Way Out. (Welcome Christ, 2 Peter 3:10,13): Christ comes unexpectedly with fire to make a new heaven and earth.

Units 3-6 are under development.

The objective of the 6-part PeterPlan is to help you 1) determine whom you can trust in your life-planning, 2) define your close relationships, 3) decide how you fit into the scheme of things, 4) budget your life problems, 5) express your creativity, and 6) stay out of big trouble.

Most of us just stumble into life and then we are surprised when we get hurt. It's a pretty rough world out there. Accidents do happen, jobs do vanish, germs do multiply. The PeterPlan is designed to help you make sense out of all this confusion. Obviously, it can't solve all your imminent problems. But it may help you see the yellow warning signals and guide you around some of the sink-holes.

The following table outlines the Bible research sections and links of this study.

1. Research Question What is the relationship between faith (trust) & salvation in I Peter 1:8,9?
Definitions: faith & salvation & love & joy & JOY
NKJV: Whom having not seen / you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible / and full of glory, /receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls.
2. Literature Review Biblical context: I Pete1:3-21, linguistic studies, concordance on faith & FAITH & salvation & love & joy.
Historical/geographical context: Written from Rome about 64 AD during Nero's persecution.(Rome burned 64 AD.)
Commentary & study & sermon: 1 Peter 1:8,9.
3. Data Analysis FAITH: Faith in Christ that leads to Christ-centered love determines ones joy & salvation. (See also question 3 & 4 below.) Christ's love>My trust is in Christ's love>Christ loves others through me>Christ's joy is in me>My salvation.
SALVATION: Salvation is both from the domination of sin now and from the final death of sin & sinners. (See also question 5 below.) Salvation is Christ's free gift>My salvation is from sin now>Christ will resurect me for everlasting live.
4. Conclusion Presented at the end of the following five main questions.

Now come the five main questions that apply the above research.

1. Who all are real but you cannot see them?

1.1 Henry lives in two realities. To him, most of reality consisted of the things he could see, such as people, houses, trees, roads and writing. But there were many other things that he felt were real but his eyes could not see them directly. Among them were TV reports of far-away places, text-book drawings that showed microscopic and cosmic objects. While unseen, they are very real to Henry. Henry and...

You have not seen Christ.

1.2 "Christ, the unseen, you love and trust. Thus you have joy and salvation." 1 Peter 1:8, 9 (RKV). You can trust the unseen Christ just as you can the unseen Peter, Luther, Washington, and Benjamin Franklin.

1.3 Check the ones you think are real, but not visible.

radio-waves, angels, wind, ideas, Christ, dreams.

2. What makes you love somebody?

2.1 It seems that Henry falls easily in and out of love. Thinking about this, he realized that it may not have been love a tall, but just infatuation. Somewhere Henry read that loving someone means wanting the very best for that person, and unselfishly doing all in your power to do it. That may involve some self-denial, some sacrifice. Not long ago, Henry started to love a person whom he knows well, whom he greatly admires, who relates well with him, and who fulfills his life like nobody else. Henry and...

You can love Christ.

2.2 "There was a certain creditor who had two deptors. One owed 500 denari, the other 50. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell me, therefore, which of them will love him more?"..."I suppose the one one whom he forgave more".... "You have rightly judged." Luke 7:41-43 You can love Christ because He forgave you, He loves you, He suffered for you, He gave His life for you.

2.3 What makes you or could make you love Christ?

your needs, your joy in Him, His love, His rewards.

3. What makes you trust somebody?

3.1 With so much deception around, Henry does not find it easy to trust anybody. He learned not to trust liars, thieves, smooth talkers and people who deceived him ones. He still trusts his parents and his closest friends that have proven themselves over and over again trustworthy. He knows that they love him and have his best interest in mind. In the same way, he and...

You can trust Christ.

3.2" He indeed...was manifest in theses last days for you, who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God." I Peter 1:20-21. Henry bases his trust on Christ's records and Henry's own experience. He can trust Christ because Christ loves him always, is always there with him.

3.3 Check the things that make you trust somebody.

experience, looks, hope of wealth, gifts.

4. How can your trust change your life?

4.1 Henry had found it difficult to keep looking over his shoulder in fear. Since he used to trust so few people, he soon felt that everyone was out to get him. Learning to trust Christ changed and freed his life. His most important matters were already taken care of. Now he and...

You are moved by joy.

4.2 "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the Lord." 1 Cor 3:17-18. Trusting Christ, our lives are joyously freed from sin.

4.3 Check the things that increased as you started trusting Christ.

Your peace of mind, health, joy, stress, friendships.

5. What is the end result of your trust?

5.1 Henry started trusting Christ. He found Christ trustworthy. Christ gave his life a new purpose and the power to accomplish it. And Henry also showed himself trustworthy. He soon realized that Christ knew what was best for him and that Christ was leading him there. Henry, on his part was willing to follow. Thus he now avoided a lot of trouble. And he trusted Christ to keep him save in the final destruction of sin and sinners. Henry and you...

By faith, find salvation for your soul.

5.2 What then is the relationship between faith and salvation? Faith leads to salvation. There is no salvation without faith. "...The gift of God is eternal life..." Romans 6:23. "You...are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." I Peter 1:4-5. "Be diligent to be found in Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of the Lord is salvation." II Peter 3:14-15. "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6. But not all faith leads to salvation. Only that faith in Christ that is allowed to positively impact lives leads to salvation. "Faith without works is dead." James 2: 17, 20, 26.

5.3 Check the things that are the results of faith or trust in Christ.

forgiveness of sin, joy now, perfection now, a place in heaven.
