He has held evangelistic campaigns and conducted relationship seminars in Europe, Africa, North America, and the Caribbean.

Dr. Brown received a Ph.D. from Andrews University in Religious Education, specializing in Family Life education and counseling, and has a postdoctoral certificate in Higher Education from the University of Oxford.  He has taught on the college and graduate level in England at Newbold College, in the United States at Andrews University and, most recently, Oakwood College.  He has authored three books on marriage and the family and written numerous articles that have been published in magazines such as Christian Post, The Interdisciplinary Journal of Pastoral Studies and Communicator.

In his new role, Dr Brown begins his service to the church here with his Bermudian wife, Pattiejean.  They have two children, Kristle and Jamel, currently in college and academy in the United States.

Pastor Kenneth L. Manders, Executive Secretary
Pastor Kenneth L. Manders served the Bermuda Mission (now Conference) as a literature evangelist from 1980-1984.  He furthered his training in the gospel ministry at Oakwood College from 1988-1992 and graduated with a B.A. in Theology. While at Oakwood College he was awarded the Mosley/Warren Homiletical and Preaching Award for the class of 1992.

Pastor Manders received a call to serve as the associate pastor of the Southampton Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1995. He was also assigned to serve as the Youth Director for the Bermuda Conference, a post he held for six years. In 1997 he was assigned to the Somerset Seventh-day Adventist Church where the Lord blessed in soul winning for 5 years.

Pastor Manders presently serves as the executive secretary for Bermuda Conference and senior pastor for the Hamilton Seventh-day Adventist Church, and bible teacher at the Bermuda Institute School of Seventh-day Adventists.

Derek R. Furbert, Treasurer
In the late 1970's, after a divine encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, which was brought about largely through the power of Bro. Furbert's praying wife, he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour.

Sensing the call of the Lord to become equipped for wider service, Bro. Furbert, together with his wife and children went off to West Indies College in 1981 to pursue higher education. Transferring to Atlantic Union College three years later, Bro. Furbert graduated from AUC in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration. In 1988 he graduated with a Masters degree in Business Administration from Bentley College, Waltham, Massachusetts.

In 1995 he was called to serve as manager of the Adventist Book Center. During his tenure, the Bermuda ABC achieved highest annual per capita book sales in the North American Division on two occasions and second highest on one occasion. A computerized point-of-sale system was installed and gross sales by the ABC exceeded one million dollars for the first time in their history.

In November 1999 Bro. Furbert was called to serve as Treasurer of the Bermuda Conference. In January of 2001 he was asked by the Executive Committee of the Conference to assume additional responsibilities as Secretary/Treasurer of the Conference, and during the triennial session held on September 9, 2001, he was elected to serve as Treasurer of the Conference.

Derek Furbert is married to the former Joann Bean and have three adult children and two grandchildren.
