 ATASCOSA  ANGELS

(Pathfinder Club)

The Atascosa First Seventh-day Adventist Church began their branch of  Pathfinder club for the first time in 2001.  The name 'Atascosa Angels' was selected for the club. Magenta and Silver were the colors selected.
The main objective of having a Pathfinder club is to draw the youth closer to Jesus. Youth in grades 5-8 (age 10 and up) may join. The Teen Leadership Training program is for those youths in grades 9-12.  They work closely with the Pathfinder club, and help provide with training and counseling in the activities. Some of the activities include reading books and scriptures, nature study and physical education, camporees and a Bible Bowl competition.
Naomi Rothenbach was the Pathfinder Director for 2001-2002 and Freddy Castillo Jr. was the Deputy Director.  Investiture was conducted May 18, 2002 for 12 youth that completed their classes. All received extra honors and 'patches' as well.
Lorelei Juarez was the Pathfinder Director for 2002-2004.
Sandy Castillo is the current Pathfinder Director, with Jennifer Castillo as Deputy Director.

adventurersGOD'S PURR-FECT KIDDIES

(Adventurer Club)
The Atascosa First Seventh-day Adventist Church also began their branch of Adventurers Club for the younger children of the church in 2001.   The name 'God's Purr-fect Kiddies' was selected for the club's name.
Children from grades Kindergarten-4 (or under 10 years of age) may join.  Eager Beavers is for younger children who have not started first grade yet. Activities are similar to the Pathfinder Club as age appropriate.  The purpose of the club is to help children draw closer to God and learn of Him through nature and activities.
Sandy Castillo was the Adventurers Director for 2001-2004.   7 children completed their classes this year in time for the investiture service held May 18, 2002, and in addition received several honors and awards for extra work done.
