With broad strokes of the prophetic brush John has painted a vivid picture of the conflict of the ages, particularly as it has raged back and forth through the last 2,000 years. In Revelation 12 and on through the book John fills in the fine details and now this detail work reaches its zenith in the description of the 1,000 years in revelation 19:11 to 21:8. In this study guide you will be thrilled by the hallelujah chorus and the wedding scene in the first ten verses of Revelation 19, while the glorious descent of the New Jerusalem, so graphically described in Revelation 21 will be surved in the next study guide.
In Revelation 20 there is good news about the bad news of Revelation. The Devil, who has worked through earthly powers to cause so much misery on Earth and conflict in the hearts of humanity, is bound for 1,000 years and is then only loosed for a short time, after which he goes to destruction. No wonder the song of the saved swells like thunder, echoing and re-echoing praise and glory to God. "Amen, Hallelujah!"

How could these studies help you most in a time of personal or national war? What have others said?
The 1,000 year period, mentioned six times in Revelation 20, has often been called THE millennium. No part of prophecy has been the subject of so much speculation as this 1,000 years, not because it is hard to understand but because people have tried to fit it into their preconceived ideas of lat day events. Some have siad Jesus will come before the Millennium, or after the millennium. Others have said that during the millennium Jesus reigns on earth, or in heaven, or only in the hearts of saved humanity. Another source of confusion has been the use of Old Testament prophecies that were given to national Israel, conditional on the nation's acceptance of Jesus and His salvation. Becuase national Israel rejected Jesus, it leads to prophetic chaos to try to fit all the conditional prophecies into the final future scenario given to John as the last word on Biblical prophecy.
It is important that we do not become embroiled in conflict over vairous millennial viewpoint, but that you prayerfully ask Jesus to walk us through this beautiful prophecy so that the light of God's special message for us will shine out with increasing clarity.
"19:1) After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:
"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2) for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitue who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of this servents."
3) And again they shouted:
"Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever."
There are at least seven reasons why the saved first shout hallelujah in verses 1-3. Which reason will be especially meaningful for you? What have others said?
"Amen, Hallelujah!"
5) The a voice came from the throne, saying:
"Praise our God, all you servants, you who fear him, both small and great!"
"Halleluja! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.' 7) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8) Fine linen, bight and clean, was given her to wear."
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

"Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!"' And he added, 'These are the true words of God.'

With justice he judges and makes war. 12) His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13) He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14) the armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean."
"15) Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16) On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

John has had at least three previously visions of Jesus' Second Coming (1:7; 6:16-17; 14:14-20). Does His 'rulling' of the unsaved leave them dead or alive? See Psalm 2:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3; and Revelation 2:27. What have others said?

After that, he must be set free for a short time.

"11) Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earh and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12) And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13) The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done."

The Royal Marriage
In the marriage customs of Bible times, at first the bride was chosen and the bride price or dowery paid. The betrothal or engagement was almost as binding as marriage but, before the wedding, there was a time of separation when the bridegroom went to prepare a new home for the bride. Finally the marriage and supper took place, the trumpets sounded, and the bridegroom threw his cloak over the bride and took her home.
