DANIEL PROPHECY STUDY #24

WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED?
(IN 1844)

The date 1844 marks the end of the longest time prophecy in the Bible, a prophecy that is at the very heart of the book of Daniel. 1844 marks the beginning of the first phase of the judgment and the beginning of the final work of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary prior to His return to this earth. Our attention has thus far been directed to the heavenly sanctuary where Jesus is performing this final phase of His ministry. We have studied extensively about this work of Jesus in heaven. However, equally fascinating is what happened on earth in 1844. While Daniel focuses our attention on the heavenly scenes, the book of Revelation focuses on a mighty movement that arises on earth. Revelation 10 foretells of this special movement that comes at the end of the 2300 day prophecy. In this lesson we will look at the other side of Daniel's prophecy as we examine what happened on earth in 1844 -- a fulfillment of Revelation 10.

THE ANGEL OF REVELATION 10

  1. What kind of angel comes to earth with the message of Revelation 10:1?

    A angel

  2. Describe this mighty one who gives this special message to John. Revelation 10:1
    1. Robed in a
    2. A above his head
    3. His face was like the
    4. His legs were like pillars.
  3. In Revelation 1, John describes another person he saw in vision. Note the characteristics of this description. Revelation 1:13-16
    1. Dressed in a reaching down to his feet
    2. His head and hair were like wool, as as snow.
    3. His eyes were like fire.
    4. His feet were like glowing in a

NOTE: A quick comparison of Revelation 1 and 10 shows that John is again describing the same person.

  4. And who is it? Revelation 1:13

    like a of

NOTE: The one who brings this message in Revelation 10 is none other than Jesus Himself. The one who is giving the revelation now continues it.

  5. What does this mighty one have in his hand? Revelation 10:2

A little , which lay open.

NOTE: The mention of the scroll being open is important. If it is now open then it was probably closed at one time.

  6. There was one book of the Bible that was closed. Which one was it? Daniel 12:4

But you, Daniel, up and the words of the scroll.

NOTE: The book of Daniel is the only book in the Bible ever said to be sealed up. The book of Revelation is an open book, a the revealing of Jesus. The book of Daniel was sealed up, but now it is shown to be open.

Identification Point #1: The movement described in Revelation 10 has to do with the unsealing of the book of Daniel.

  7. How long was the book of Daniel to remain sealed? Daniel 12:4

    Until the of the

NOTE: The book of Daniel was not to remain sealed forever, but only until the time of the end. The fact that we today have been able to understand the book of Daniel indicates clearly that we are living in the Biblical time of the end.

Identification Point #2: The movement of Revelation 10 must arise at the time of the end.

  8. Where is the angel standing? Revelation 10:2

He planted his right foot on the and his left foot on the

NOTE: The sea is a symbol of peoples, nations and tongues, or populated areas of the earth (Revelation 17:15). The earth, being opposite of the sea, would represent a wilderness area of the earth, an area that is much less populated. The one foot on the sea and the other on land indicates the worldwide proclamation of a message that deals with the unsealing of the book of Daniel.

Identification Point #3: The movement would be worldwide.

  9. What was John told to do with the revelation of the seven thunders? Revelation 10:4

up what the seven thunders have said.

NOTE: There is no further explanation given of the seven thunders. Something about this movement was revealed to John, but he was then told not two write it down.

Identification Point #4: There was something hidden from the movement of Revelation 10.

  10. What does the angel proclaim about time Revelation 10:5, 6

    There will be no more

NOTE: The NIV Translators incorrectly translated the Greek word "chronos" as "delay" rather than "time". The only place in the New Testament that they used "delay" for this Greek word is in this verse. This clearly indicates their lack of understanding of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. This should read: "There will be no more time."

This could not mean the end of the world, since the rest of the chapter describes much activity on the earth after the angel says there will be nor more time. In the context of the passage, John is dealing with the book of Daniel. In the book of Daniel there are many time prophecies. Much of Daniel has been understood for centuries, except for the time prophecies. They were sealed up till the time of the end. When the angel proclaimed that there would be no more time, he was referring to the end of the time prophecies. In other words, when the movement of Revelation 10 arose, we would have come to the end of the time prophecies of the book of Daniel. The longest of those time prophecies, the 2300-day prophecy, ended in 1844.

Identification Point #5: The movement of Revelation 10 must arise around 1844.

  11. What will be finished under the preaching of this movement? Revelation 10:7

    The of God.

NOTE: The mystery of God is His great plan of Salvation. Through the preaching of the movement of Revelation 10, God's message will go into all the world and will be finished (Matthew 24:14; Revelation 14:6-12).

Identification Point #6: The movement of Revelation 10 gives the final warning message that prepares the world for the second coming of Jesus.

  12. What was John to do with the little book? How would it taste in his mouth, and how would his stomach feel? Revelation 10:8-10
    1. Take it and it.
    2. In your mouth is will be as as
    3. It will turn your stomach

NOTE: The little book of Revelation 10 is the book of Daniel. To the movement of Revelation 10, devouring the book means that they would become so enthralled and excited at what they saw as the prophecies of Daniel were unsealed, that they would just 'eat it up.' It would be a sweet and blessed experience, sweet indeed as honey to the mouth to understand these great prophecies of the book of Daniel. But then their excitement was to turn to a very bitter, disappointing experience.

Identification Point #7: The understanding of the book of Daniel would be a pleasant, happy experience, but it would end in disappointment.

  13. After the bitter disappointment of the book of Daniel, what was the movement of Revelation 10 to do? Revelation 10:11

    You must prophesy

NOTE: But the disappointment was not the end, they were to prophesy again. They were to take the message of the prophecies of the opened book of Daniel into the world. The prophecies about the peoples, nations, languages and kings was to be made plain to the world.

Identification Point #8: They were to arise and go into all the world with the message of the book of Daniel.

  14. Lets review the eight marks of identification that Revelation 10 has given us describing this movement:
    1. It has to do with the unsealing of the book of Daniel.
    2. It arises at the time of the end.
    3. It would be worldwide.
    4. There is something hidden from the movement as per the seven thunders.
    5. It must arise at the end of the prophetic time periods, around 1844.
    6. It gives the final warning message that prepares the world for the second coming of Jesus, finishing the mystery of God.
    7. The understanding of Daniel would be sweet as honey but end in bitter disappointment.
    8. It was to go forth with renewed zeal after the disappointment to present the world with the message of Daniel.
  15. Did such a movement as described in Revelation 10 arise and fulfill these eight Biblical marks of identification?

NOTE: There arose in the mid-nineteenth century a special movement that fulfilled every one of these eight marks of identification to the very letter. Click here for the exciting story of the origin of the movement of Revelation 10.

    GOD'S FINAL CALL

  16. How far and wide is God's last-day message to be preached? Revelation 14:6

    To every , , , and

NOTE: Today the Seventh-day Adventist Church is operating in over 95 percent of the countries of the earth. It is truly a worldwide movement, carrying the message of the nearness of the second coming of Jesus to all the world.

  17. What special message does the church of the last days proclaim? Revelation 14:7

the hour of his has come.

NOTE: The Seventh-day Adventist Church is proclaiming the judgment hour message. No other church is proclaiming judgment beginning in 1844. The central message of the book of Daniel is totally neglected by most churches, Yet Revelation 14:7 declares it to be part of the special, final warning message to be given to the world before Jesus comes.

  18. Jesus declares that He is the good shepherd and knows His sheep. What has Jesus done for his sheep? John 10:14, 15

I lay down my for the sheep.

NOTE: Jesus knows us; He has given His life for us. He has died for our sins. He loves us that much.

  19. Are all of God's sheep in Jesus' "sheep pen" now? John 10:16

I have other sheep that are of this sheep pen.

NOTE: We can never forget that God has people in all churches and denominations (or even no church or denomination). They love and serve Him faithfully in harmony with the light and truth they have. They may not be in the "sheep pen" yet, but they are still His sheep. They belong to Him, and He loves them and died for them.

  20. What is to happen to Jesus' sheep who are not in His pen during the time of the end? John 10:16

I must them also. They too will to my voice, and there shall be one and one shepherd.

NOTE: Those true sheep who are not yet a part of his sheep pen, will hear his voice, and will become a part of his one sheep pen. They are God's sheep. He is lovingly calling them.

  21. What will those do who truly love Jesus? John 14:15

If you love me, you will what I command.

  22. How does the bible describe the remnant who are in the one pen? Revelation 12:17

Those who God's commands and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

NOTE: The Seventh-day Adventist Church teaches people to observe all the commandments of God and has the testimony of Jesus (see lessons 23 and 25).

  23. How does John describe those who proclaim the three angel's messages? Revelation 14:12

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who God's commandments and remain to Jesus.

  24. What final call does God give to his people who are in Babylon? Revelation 18:4

    Come of her, people,
so that you will not share in her sins,
    so that you will not receive any of her plagues;

NOTE: God extends the final invitation. He invites His people to follow the truth of His word, to enter into a dynamic relationship with Jesus that will enable them to keep the commandments of God through the power of Jesus. He invites them to become a part of the remnant people of Bible prophecy who are extending the final warning message into all the world.

  25. Do you want to have a part in taking this message into all the world? Do you want to be a part of the remnant church?
