Angel Co-Op Newsletter

Dear Sister,

My prayer today is that you will have a lovely, loving, lovable day today-- partly in memory of lovely St. Valentine, who, according to one of the legends, was a Roman priest who secretly performed marriages after Emperor Claudius outlawed them (unmarried men made the best soldiers, apparently).   I also want you to have a wonderfully loving day in honour of our Lord, and as a counter to the horrors and atrocities of this world, such as the recent uncovering of an internet suicide pact for this day: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/02/12/wsuic12.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/02/12/ixworld.html  And Happy Birthday to the sweethearts who are celebrating the 14th in this fashion (including my dear daughter-in-law, Marylen).

Last week our new Pastor preached on Hospitality, and this week he preached on Friendship.  It was quite amazing how this two topics have sparked a gentler, warmer and friendlier air... there was a whole lotta huggin going on after Church yesterday.

We were invited for lunch and enjoyed the hospitality of a young family (and some excellent patties for which I must get the recipe!) What I particularly enjoyed was the opportunity to 'close' the Sabbath with singing and prayers for our hostess's very ill father.  Another flock of people joined us for that event-- they had all been potlucking and fellowshipping at another home.

I believe that I will go over to my parents' tomorrow and do a 'spa day' for my mom.  She has chosen not to be active and her muscles have atrophied to the point where she is unable to get up and walk around for more than a few minutes before being on the point of collapse.  She is, for all intents and purposes, 'bed-ridden'.  She relies heavily upon my father to look after her, including washing her hair.  I am sad to say that we continue to have challenges in our relationship together.  Sometimes she doesn't want to see me, and sometimes she asks why I neglect her.  I won't tell her about the possibility of the spa (hair wash, manicure) until I actually get there.  In my mind's eye I have a whole range of kind activities and treats I bestow upon her, but the reality will likely be that she will consent to either the hair wash OR the manicure and then we will both be happy to call it a day.

Today I met for the first time with a very bright young woman who wants help with her dysgraphia (trouble with handwriting), spelling, grammar and anxiety.  I had her read me a couple of columns from yesterday's Star Phoenix newspaper to gauge what level her reading is at.  My old friend (from babyhood on into our adulthood) was on the front page.  She is the post mistress in Love, Saskatchewan, so naturally gets a lot of mail during the Valentine mailing period.  My client and I got a few giggles from this article.

Over this week I joined the Faith Writers internet site.  I will probably write a short article each week (an assigned topic) just to get me hand back into that.  There might be others of you who are interested in doing this.  Go to http://faithwriters.com  There is lots to see and learn on this site.

I am pleased to offer two new testimonies written by a woman who has a portfolio posted on the faithwriters.com site.  Joan Morrone is someone who came up through "the School of Hard Knocks" to where she is currently enjoying the opportunity to share her vision and the experiences she has had that have brought her closer to God.  You will find Joan's stories on Angel Co-op at  http://www.tagnet.org/angelco-op/testimonials.html (thanks to Megan for posting them).

My daughter-in-law, Marylen, is supplementing her income with a Herbalife business in Manila.  I am also a distributor now.  Wait for amazing stories of how I have tossed aside the big pants and am more energetic than I have ever been before in my life.  Marylen and I might share a Herbalife (or an Herbalife, depending on your pronunciation) website together at some point.
