Angel Co-Op Newsletter

Dear Sister,

Just wanted to convey my prayers for you and your dear ones over the coming New Year.... this won't be a lengthy diatribe!

I am still shocked and stunned by the gobbling of land and lives in southeast Asia.  Ed and I are so grateful that our dear son and daughter-in-law in the Philippines were unaffected by this disaster and our hearts go out to you if you have family or friends who was lost.  The Adventist Development and Relief Organization (ADRA) has an ongoing presence in many of the countries of devastation.  ADRA is well-known for its disaster relief services, particularly where clean drinking water is concerned.  If you have not chosen a way to give, please consider ADRA.  Your generous donation will definitely be used in the way you want it to be used.  Read more at http://adra.ca/

Ed and I just returned from a Christmas visit with our son, Conrad, on lovely Vancouver Island.  We definitely had angel guides there and home again.  We had planned to drive through the night yesterday, but a tired Ed, coupled with snowy gusts and ice-patches, prompted us to pull into a motel in a small town in Alberta.  As a result, we had one more night of 'junk TV' (we don't have any TV reception at home), enough to last us for a good while I should think, and we had a nice, clear, sunny, wide-awake ride today.  We listened to Peter Mayle's "Encore Provence" on tape.... that colourful part of rural France is wonderfully drawn by Mayle.  It's very attractive to Ed and I, too, but we figure since we are as austere as we are (non-alcohol-imbibing CHIP-eating veggies) we probably will get as much fun from listening to the tape books as we would have in the countryside itself.

There was lots of email waiting to be read.  One very interesting article concerns Women in the New Testament: A Middle Eastern Cultural View that I thought I would pass along for you to peruse: http://www.cbeinternational.org/new/pdf_files/free_articles/kebaileynt.pdf

And, since this is largely a personal forum for yours truly these days, I thought I would let you know that I am starting off the new year with a new career.... I will be working with persons experiencing dyslexia and reading lag.   I am ever so pleased to have had the opportunity to be trained by Bonnie Wilde, a lovely Adventist woman who has ministered in this area for over thirteen years.

Have yourself a cozy little time over the next few weeks, doing what you need to do to be close to God and your fellow humans.

In Christ,
Cynthia
