"The Spirit of Ministry is the Spirit of Heaven, and with every effort to develop and encourage it, Angels will cooperate."

"Those who labour for the good of others are working in union with the heavenly angels.  They have their constant companionship, their unceasing ministry.  Angels of light and power are ever near to protect, to comfort, to heal, to instruct, to inspire."

Angel Co-Op Newsletter

Greetings dear Sister!

When I look out my window I see the beginnings of autumn here in Saskatoon.... a brown cast to everything, flowers past their prime, vegetables ripening, the odd squawk of a bird as it rallies to migrate south.

For farmers and those city-dwellers with big gardens, it means a time of concentrated labour to harvest and preserve the fruits of the earth.  For school kids and their parents, it means battling the throngs in the department stores as supplies are gathered together.

**Our Church is getting ready to launch its first-ever CHIP (Coronary Health Improvement Project) program.  Click on **Saskatoon CHIP** to read about it, and please pass the information on to any friends you might have in Saskatoon and area.  Ed and I are going to be in the Philippines (yes, we are excited) during this particular CHIP program, but we hope to be involved in the near future, and have been spreading the word to our health care providers, friends, work mates, family, and church family.  Dr. Carol and her crew are doing a splendid job of getting all the information out there.

**Our personal August and September calendar includes a wedding (Megan's!), a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, Ed running another half-marathon (in Regina), and other events.  Again, for anyone who lives in Saskatoon, I would like to invite you to join us at the "SOUNDS OF AFRICA"  at 7 p.m., Saturday, August 28th @ St. John's Hall, 816 Spadina Crescent East.  This is the annual fundraiser sponsored by the Southern Sudan Humanitarian Action Development Committee.  Come and hear music (on authentic instruments) and singing and sample delicious Sudanese food.  There will also be a report on SSHADA's current projects in the Southern Sudan.  Hope to see you there!

**Speaking of Africa, our Central Church family has been blessed with a richly diverse representation from African countries: Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, and Zambia.  This past Sabbath Nalikando Nachilobe transferred her membership from Zambia through profession of faith.  For years there has been attempts to track down the paperwork.  Our Church family is delighted to have Nalikando join us, formally.  Together with the Sankhulanis, the Chayas, and other African members, the Nachilobes bring us our own "Sounds of Africa" via their beautiful acapella choir, Voices.   Nalikando herself has a wonderful singing voice, and the kids (Skidmore, Cossy and Kate) recently presented special music at the wind-up of the VBS.  Congratulations, Nalikando, and all the best for your continued ministries!

**To continue with a slight African theme, Ed and I watched a most fascinating DVD that we recently rented at the library.  Called "AMANDLA!" it documents black South African freedom music and the central role it played against apartheid.  DVD305.800968 AMA

**I'm excited to announce that very busy Pastor Elizabeth Castle (have you ever met a Pastor who wasn't burning the wick at both ends?) will be sharing her fascinating testimonial with us this coming week.  Check  during the week!

**As I believe I stated in a previous newsletter, I am the proud first time grand-auntie of a lovely, soft, cuddly little fella named Bradley William Rempel.   My dear friend, Kath, also had a little grand-nephew come into her life around the same time (but this is her second!).  The parents of these little ones are now receiving regular monthly "Welcome Baby" newsletters.   On Dr. Kay Kuzma's site the Welcome Baby kit is described as "a complete kit for establishing and operating a Welcome Baby Program in your church , the Welcome Baby Program is designed to reach young adults, a population group not easily reached by traditional outreach methods.  The newsletters are written for all new parents but will be particularly meaningful to parents having their first baby."  If you love babies and are looking for a ministry, this might be the one for you!  I would suggest that you check to see if your Church has this program in operation, so that you can access the materials without cost.
(If you live in Saskatoon or area and know about an expectant family, contact Sharon Hopkins at the Conference Office and she will happily provide you with the WB kit).

**I am enjoying so much the time that I have off from my job.  I miss my workmates and clients, but I definitely know that it was time that I took  a leave to nurture my poor old frazzled double-right brain lead.  My memory has returned.  I have many fewer anxiety attacks.  I haven't had a bout of sinusitis since I began to be treated by naturopath, Dr. Hoe Mark, in June.  The most exciting announcement I can make this week is that I am actually bounce out of bed in the morning and look forward to my daily walk with Ed.  While tidying a really messy bookshelf, I came across a book that Ed gave me to read several (hopeful) years ago.  It's called "Walk Yourself Thin" by David A. Rives.  I believe that his approach is a very good holistic connect with the CHIP program, and I would like to share a daily passage based on his text, each day in my blog for anyone who might also be struggling with health/exercise issues...  I am starting today, so check out my blog by clicking on

**Another bit of fun that I have had of late is getting to know a little more about my computer.  Anyone who is interested in talking "live" to me (and to other friends of yours, I'm sure), can go to www.yahoo.com to (1) set up a free Yahoo! account (if you don't already have one), and (2) download the Yahoo! Instant Messenger so that you can chat "live".  I also have a free Yahoo! site where I store digital photos.  And, I listen to free Christian praise music (no commercials)-- at least as long as CBC radio is off the web because of the Olympics.  I bought myself a webcam-headset with a mike so that I can enhance my communication with people far away (like my son and his fiancee).  This is not a paid promotion for Yahoo! (although it does rather read that way, doesn't it?).  It is a way for you to get more out of your computer, if you have an internet connection.... even to save some telephone costs.  If you want to contact me for an Instant Messenger (IM) session, contact me at angelco_op@hotmail.com and I will give you my yahoo! address (in exchange for yours).

**God Bless You

In Christ, Cynthia
