Good day, dear Sister!
I know from my email
chats during the week that this likely finds you busy
and maybe a little overwhelmed by demands, concerns,
worries, personal issues--whatever you want to call
those thoughts that seem to cling on to our minds like a
toddler to his blankie. Some of this stuff we need to
deal with because it is indeed urgent to do so (eg.,
getting that tri-coloured mole checked out by a doctor),
but some of our concerns we can shed right now, or at
least put aside for a while. You can do a
Stress Quiz and receive some helpful tips by going

Friend Power
When I was a little pre-school girl on the farm, I
longed for a friend. I had my very nice and
accommodating younger brother, of course (I made all the
rules for the games he has since told his wife), but it
wasn't the same as a friend of the same sex to do 'girl
friend' stuff with. I actually remember developing a
sequence of rituals in my sleeping dreams wherein my
dream-friend would somersault out of the dream into my
waking life. Yes, I was a rather strange child.
Strange and lonely.
We moved into town when I
was school-aged, and I went to a boarding school for
three years. These were all opportunities to feast on
friendships, and I did. I also had penpals, and later,
boyfriends. Friendship was an important component of my
life. I was encouraged and comforted by my friends in
times of sadness and disappointment. I learned lots of
things from my friends, mostly things about fitting in,
feeling cared about, and making my way in the world.
Fortunately, my husband
is my best of best friends, and I get to be with every
day, but in general, I have less meaningful contact time
with other friends. Email is a great boon, but even
then, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to "keep
in touch". I invite those who are interested to think
seriously about keeping a web blog on Angel Co-op,
if only to keep me in touch! (yes, that is really really
selfish, isn't it?) You can keep identifying
information to a minimum, and because you will send your
email through me first, your ISP address, etc., will
never be published with your blog.
Watch for Carla's
Roots, our latest blog.... Megan has been
grappling with computer snafus, but when she has
everything up and running, you can catch up! I am
thinking that I will also start blogging again since I
know that my dear old friends often came into Angel
Co-op to read about my day-to-day life back when I was
involved with a weight loss program. Please consider
joining us!
There are quite a number
of neat Christian 'blog sites' on the Internet that you
might want to look at to get some ideas:
The above named blogger,
Martin Roth, writes about Christian bloggers:
"I reckon you can divide
the Christian blogs into four very rough groups:
-
The Catholic
bloggers, several of them quite prominent writers,
who in the short time that I’ve been watching have
naturally been pretty concerned with the sexual
scandals in their church, though their interests
range widely.
-
Emerging church
bloggers. A crowd of generally younger Christians
using the internet to debate ways of making the
church relevant to a post-modern generation.
-
A group, perhaps
mainly Evangelicals, who comment a lot on religion,
but who also roam across politics, culture, ethics,
science, society, sport and just about anything
else. (I’d classify myself in this mob.)
-
Christians who use
their blog as a daily diary of their walk with the
Lord."

The Global
Waistline: As we in our Church prepare to
present the Coronary Health Improvement Project
(Adventist CHIP) to our community, I have been thinking
a lot about my own health and eating habits. I came
across this interesting site that compares dietary
guidelines in different parts of the world:http://www.afic.org/It's%20a%20small%20world%20after%20all%20Dietary%20guidelines%20around%20the%20world.htm
Have a wonderful
week! In Christ, Cynthia
