Dear Sister,
Did you observe "TV Turn-off Week" at
your home?
Ed and I stopped watching TV, per se,
about three years ago. We have a set in our bedroom that we watch the
odd video on. The set is old, one that I bought at an auction about 14
years ago, and has a line across the screen that distorts the picture.
We have learned not to see the line, just as we were rarely wakened by
early morning sirens when we lived across from a fire hall for a time.
To be truthful, I am not sure if I have not just transferred "idle time"
from the TV to the computer. I do know that I am much more aware of
feeling impatient when watching something that doesn't require some sort
of interactive response. I'd be interested to hear about your
thoughts/experiences with/without the tube. Does it, for instance,
interfere with one's Christian walk? Please click and respond below:
Speaking of Videos: Have
you seen the "other" new release about Jesus, The Gospel of
John? I'm still feeling a bit of a gut clench when
thinking of the gory violence of The Passion of the Christ. It
sounds to me like The Gospel of John might be easier for me to
watch. The complete text of the Gospel of John is included (from The
Good News version) in this three-hour movie. The Canadian Bible Society
offers the video/DVD for purchase, and suggests it as an excellent
outreach vehicle. http://www.biblescanada.com/catalog/1736.htm
Love Fluently Spoken Here:
Please include our site's prayer requests in your time alone with God.
Thank you and God bless you!
Dipping In:
Here's a recipe for a fruit dip that
turned up at my work place last week and which I took along for an
after-service fellowship yesterday. It would be healthier, of course,
to substitute kosher gelatine and yoghurt. This is the 'disapproved'
(but cheap) version. If you have some 2-ingredient veggie or fruit dip
recipes you want to share, please do!
Whip together a
regular-sized tub of Cool-Whip and a
small box of no-name
jelly.
Healthy Sweet Attack
Fixer:
My Mom says this satisfies her like
chocolate. I'm not sure I would go that far, but I do feel somewhat
more virtuous when I eat these little sweetlets:
Ingredients: 1/2 C. raw, shelled sunflower seeds (organic is nice)
1/2 C. sticky organic raisins (I use
Thompsons)
Grind the seeds up in your blender or
processor until fine; add the raisins and blend until this is a more or
less homogeneous, sticky mass. Roll into small balls. Chill for a
while. I store mine in the freezer so they keep their shapes.
Have a great week all!!
In Christ, Cynthia
