Angel Co-Op Newsletter
Dear Sister,
It is 8:04 a.m. as I begin this
newsletter, and pitch black outside in Saskatoon. This may be God's way
of providing us with a little extra peace in this otherwise hustling,
elbow-jogging, eye-boggling, ear-popping, nerve-jangling time of the
year. (This is written from an introvert's point of view, of course :
) Ironic that this is purportedly the celebration of the arrival of the
Prince of Peace! Anyhow, it is my prayer that each of you find a pocket
of peace in your day as you contemplate the 'reason for the season.'
A Christmas tradition I didn't know about: In Iraq, families gather around lighted candles as children read the Christmas story. After the reading a bonfire of thorn bushes is lit. On Christmas day the priest blesses one person with a touch. That person touches the one sitting next to him and this continues until all who are present have felt "the touch of peace." Here is a site for people who want to know how they might invest some of their ethnic heritage into their personal celebration of Christmas: "Christmas around the World" : http://www.s-g.k12.ky.us/countries.html For Parents: 7 Ways to Creating a Simpler, More Spiritual Christmas: http://www.parentsoup.com/experts/guests/articles/0%2C%2C174920_545898%2C00.html I have heard from quite a few of you about whether or not you want to participate in the upcoming "The Purpose Driven Life" daily reflection, but there are many I have not yet heard from: To read the first chapter of this devotional, go to: http://www.christianbookpreviews.com/christian-book-excerpt.php?isbn=0310205719 It will be necessary for you to purchase the book to take part in this exciting 40-day adventure on-line. The book is currently available at Costco for $9.99 and can also be purchased from Amazon.ca to support our Women's Ministries by going to the site from here (or from our website at www.tagnet.org/angelco-op ) Have a happy week! In Christ, Cynthia.
