Greetings From Your Missionary Family
The Gowlee Family
Mission Statement
As an expression
of humanitarian concern, it is our desire to serve the physical, mental
and spiritual needs of the residents of the remote/isolated villages along
the rivers in Eastern Peru. In doing this we wish to glorify God
and communicate His love to those with whom we come in contact.
Present Need
While Pucallpa itself has a hospital, there are many villages in the remote parts of the rivers that have no access to medical care. Children die of preventable diseases, the injured either die, heal on their own--often with less than desirable outcomes, or make a long and arduous journey to the nearest hospital.
Our Plan
Our plan is to go from village to village serving the felt medical needs of the people, who have very limited access to medical care, to be followed up by lay Bible workers, fifty families of which have already volunteered several months of their time.
Mission to American Youth
Another mission field exists right here in our own country, maybe even in your own home. Young Christians are slipping in droves out the back door of the church. It is our goal to reach not only residents of remote Peruvian villages, but also to reach the youth who come to assist us, whether that be in medical work, public health, or in presenting the Gospel. Because it has been documented that young people are much more likely to adopt the values of their parents as their own if they see their parents involved in outreach we encourage families to come together.
Our hope is to inspire our youth to active service, and be certain that there is a place for them in God's work.
To
"CO" is to GO
Although most people
can not relocate to some foreign mission field, they still can fulfill
the Great COmission by being a financial partner with missionaries overseas.
Without the support of their team at home missionaries would be forced
to return to their homeland. We invite you to be comissionaries with us
and join our team.
Our
Objectives
1)To provide relief
from pain and suffering for residents of isolated river villages through
medical care.
2) To train the local people in simple methods for the prevention and treatment of local diseases and to mentor them as they provide such service and foster self help.
3) To create a working model for training future generations of humanitarian minded young people from various countries of origin and involved in varied occupations.
4) To introduce High School or College students, the future generation, to the joy of service through this experience.
5) To provide a working model for maternal/child survival instruction programs, including breastfeeding and family planning.
6) To provide a child and adult immunization program.
7) To provide seminars on healthful lifestyle to the local villages.
8) To encourage cultivation & consumption of nutritious food through disseminating information in various ways, including seminars on healthful nutrition and the food groups pyramid among other topics pertinent to the River area.
9) To address other Ucayali River area public health concerns such as malaria, contagious diseases and other medical afflictions.
10) To establish a cooperative and close working/sharing relationship with medical colleagues in Pucallpa and any existing Peruvian Health system, as a resource of medical information and patient management, especially Internal Medicine cases all without cost.
11) To be a liaison between local community and referral centers.
12) To encourage
an awareness of and protection to the fragile ecosystem
