The key to Bible prophecy is Jesus. He is also the key to your life.
There are some basic principles that can help to make the study of the book of Revelation a deeply spiritual and enjoyable experience. These guidelines will assist in dispelling the mysteries and speculations that have led many people to miss the wonderful blessings God has for those who hear and take to heart Jesus' encouraging messages for Christians today.
Revelation is not just one long prophecy viewing time and events chronologically from chapter 1 to chapter 22. There are seven major divisions with at least forty-nine (7x7) subdivisions. Many of these visions go back and forth over the same ground looking at events and messages from different facets. A fitting symbol would be the seven primary colors of a rainbow. They are separate, but also overlap each other. In the Apocalypse, some important truths are repeated over again, with interludes, and with the use of additional graphic symbols. More than eighty different symbols are used throughout the book. These are graphic images and pictures that help to unlock and open the meanings of the messages of Revelation. The rich visual language describing symbols and scenes is the source of thousands of art works depicting the events narrated by John.
The Word of God offers some real hope for what may have seemed hopeless in your life until now - a happy ending. It is in Isaiah 61:1, speaking of Jesus Christ, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek. He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.”
The Bible says that an important function of Jesus’ mission on earth is to put together broken people. Maybe all the King's horses and all the King's men cannot put you together again, but the Creator and Savior of this planet can.
If you will give Him all the pieces of your life, no matter how hurting, no matter how shameful, no matter how ugly, Jesus can do what no friend can do for you, no lover, no therapist, no medication, no family member, and no emotional anesthetic. Why? The answer is that He did what only He could do to deal with the root cause of all the brokenness in our world and that is the destroyer that God calls sin.
