This is one of a series of editorials in the daily newsletter of South Queensland Conference Camp, the largest Adventist Camp in Australia.

Those young people outside are so noisy, the one-eyed editor said to himself.

They're enjoying themselves, he replied to himself.

Exactly. Don't they realise that this is a Seventh-day Adventist Campground?

I'm sure they all saw the signs at the gate, he told himself, deliberately misunderstanding what he had said to himself.

Then I suppose they know.

Don't you think it's good that the local mayor liked all the smiles on our kids' faces?

I don't object to smiles, he said. although I don't do it very much myself.

Weren't you noisy as a kid? I remember you used to buy very loud fire-crackers. And there were times when....

But I've repented of that, he suddenly said to himself. I don't want the kids to be like I was when I was young..

And when they are old, do you want them to be like you are now? he asked himself.

But for some inexplicable reason he did not answer himself.
