An editorial from South Queensland
Conference Camp's daily news bulletin.

I don't like some of this so-called Christian music the kids play, the one-eyed editor said to himself.

Well maybe you should criticise it, he said to himself with a wry smile.

I do, and I'm good at it.

What Bible passages do you use to show the kids it's wrong? he asked himself.

What's the Bible got to do with it? he snorted.

It tells Christians what's right and what's wrong.

Definitely. But they didn't have electric guitars in those days, so the Bible doesn't address the issue.

So how do you know it's wrong? he asked himself.

I can tell by just listening to it, he said to himself in the more belligerent tone which he oftens uses to cover the weakness of his argument.

Church history is a good way to judge music, he said to himself.

An excellent way, he agreed with himself. That's just what I was going to say, he told himself.

You know that church history shows that every Christian revival is accompanied by it's own new brand of Christian music?

And there have been many fine revivals, he told himself.

So if you cut off the kid's new brand of Christian music, you cut of their revivial.

Hum. Don't get me wrong, he said to himself. I'm all in favour of the kid's having their own brand of music as long as it's the same music we had when I was a kid.

Talking with ourself is not getting us very far, maybe we should sing with ourself, he said to himself.

But whose music should we chose, mine or yours? he asked himself.

That's obvious, he said to himself. The music of whichever one of us is oldest.
